VERSE DAILY BOOK PRIZE

Verse Daily in partnership with DHP, is now open for entries to the Verse Daily Book Prize.

NEW ways we are working to support our new and current entrants!

1: Anyone who enters a manuscript (guidelines below) but then feel you've improved it or otherwise wish to revise it after entering, you may send the updated version and we'll replace the previous version of the same manuscript with your update. This opportunity will be available until the end of April 2025. In addition,

2: We have decided to award a $50 single poem prize to one poem from the manuscripts entered. Our favorite poem from the manuscript entries will receive $50 and be published on Verse Daily.

Entry Deadline: March 31, 2025.

Eligibility: Open to any poet writing in English regardless of publication history.

Submissions accepted by email only, carefully following the instructions below: • Submit via email a previously unpublished, full-length poetry manuscript, in English, in PDF format only.
• Material in your manuscript may have been published previously in magazines, journals, anthologies, or a chapbook, but the book manuscript as a whole must not have been previously published in any form. Translations and previously self-published books are not eligible.
• Include a list of acknowledgments
• Use a standard 12 point font, minimum.
• Do not include artwork nor more than one poem per page.
• Length requirements: up to 60 pages of text.
• In your cover letter, include your full legal name, any pen names, email address, phone number, and permanent mailing address.
• You may submit multiple manuscripts, but each must be submitted separately with its own fee. Each manuscript requires a $28 fee.
• Fees are not refundable, so please be sure to submit your manuscript immediately after your fee. Please ensure that both contain reference to your name and the title of your manuscript.
• If your manuscript is accepted elsewhere, please inform us by email right away.
• If we receive a wealth of excellent collections, we may also offer one or more runners-up a publication contract, with terms different than that of the winning collection.
• Your submission and your fee must be received no later than 11:59 pm pacific time on March 31, 2025.

Fees help to support both Verse Daily and DHP.

The prize is $1000 and book publication.

The 2024 winner, Book of Dolls by Bruce Bond, is scheduled for release in 2025.
