W.N. Herbert is a highly versatile poet in English and Scots. His other books include three Bloodaxe collections, Forked Tongue (1992), Cabaret McGonagall (1994), and The Laurelude (1998), and a critical study of Hugh MacDiarmid. He edited Strong Words: modern poets on modern poetry (2000) with Matthew Hollis and lives in a lighthouse.
