Lyubomir Levchev has published over one hundred books of poetry, including many in translation. He served for ten years as the Chair of Bulgarian Writers and is a member of the European Academy of Science, Art and Literature; he is a life member of the European Academy of Poetry and has received the Pushkin Award, the Boris Polevoy Award and the title "Knight of Poetry" from the French Academy. He lives in Sofia.

Jack Harte, founder of the Irish Writers' Union and the Irish Writers' Centre, has visited Bulgaria and knows Levchev well; his own book of stories, Birds, has been translated into Bulgarian and published in Sofia.
