Barbara Hamby's second book, The Alphabet of Desire (N.Y.U. Press, 1999), won the New York University Prize for poetry. Her poems and stories have appeared in The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review, Shenandoah, Five Points, The Harvard Review, and Best American Poetry 2000, edited by David Lehman and Rita Dove. She teaches creative writing at Florida State University.
