Today's poem is by Cindy Veach

Forgiveness

A clump of white flowers
        continues to bloom
                lighting the far corner

of a yard now dark by five.
        This spillway
                of plain petals,

this summer holdout
        that was not the star
                of the yard

has outlived one frost
        and all its showy
                neighbors.

Shame on me
        for not noticing
                it before.

And still it welcomes me home
        night after night
                all blossoms, floodlights.
