Today's poem is by Leslie Williams

Cloak of Kindness

You will be taught matters which are for you alone.
A silence opens, yes indeed.
Before, I'd been capsized

in the riotous depths of my own
governance, too far from shore the voyage out
became. It was a rage-lipped hunger, neither

surprised nor satisfied. The constant
stretching of the soul to accommodate
greater and greater distances till

I was an afternoon,
scrolling through old photos so proving
of forgiveness—arm-in-arm

blowing down the road.
I'd say get behind the lilac,
honeysuckle, and the seas.

I see our names are shining things
on a great countenance today.
