Steven Withrow studied writing and literature at Roger Williams University and Emerson College. He has authored several chapbooks including Crackles of Speech and The Bedlam Philharmonic. Poems of his have been nominated for the Rhysling and Elgin awards from the Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association. He produced a documentary film about children's literature, and he wrote the libretto for a chamber opera based on a classic English ghost story with composer Paul Zeigler. He lives on Cape Cod, where he works as a bookseller. "Black Locust" was a finalist for the 2023 Able Muse Write Prize for Poetry.
