Today's poem is by Lisa Allen Ortiz

Seed

The parade horse
jigs at the gate
tosses its head,
rattles the reins & gnashes
its bit with flat
yellow teeth.

I speak from my neck.
Cartilage and tissue, I pull
the lever of my sternum.
I exhale ribbons.
I cannot stay here long.
I have a body now.
