Today's poem is by Richard Wollman
26
Soon you'll be on your way north again.
Your mother waits for you, having known
the news written on your brow, having heard
the change in the sound of your voice.
You have kept me secret as the river
hides its glistening fish.
This is patience I have never known,
the silence women embrace
while men hold conversation
with the gods they have created.
