Time Warp (May 2020)
With a bit of a mind flip—You're into the time slip—
And nothing can ever be the same ...

(From "The Time Warp," The Rocky Horror Picture Show)

Back then, it was just for fun
(the midnight movie seen over
and over) —costumes and props—

a candle on Venus de Milo's head.
Ridiculous really, and no context for
it now—a Gothic spoof, a group of

friends shouting out dialogue, water
pistols ready to soak anyone close
when Janet and Brad walked

into the storm. Happier companions
than we would have been in our
own thoughts, we tossed confetti

like shredded love letters, snapped
our rubber gloves with Frank, and
threw toilet paper into the air

when Brad cried out, Great Scott!
Most of those friends disappeared
years ago and only come back as

unintentional memories, held in a
time warp where young was young,
and nothing can ever be the same.
