Today's poem is by Charles Rafferty
The Silence of the Marriage
The silence of the marriage continued to solidify, and no one mentioned it. In the same way, we fail to notice the growth of trees, though it is happening even as we look at them or the way that paint hardens in a can imperfectly sealed against the air we are always breathing. On a day like this, the cherries float over us like dark stars, and the breeze smells of foxes. It's then that I notice how the cabinets need retouching, how the separate notes inside of us have gathered to a chord.
