Henry Hart
has published four books of poetry: The Ghost Ship, The Rooster Mask, Background Radiation, and Familiar Ghosts. From 1984 to 1994, he co-edited VERSE, an international poetry magazine. His essays and poems have appeared in the Southern Review, Denver Quarterly, Gettysburg Review, Georgia Review, Kenyon Review, and other journals. His biography, James Dickey: The World as a Lie was runner-up for a Southern Book Critics' Circle Award in 2000. Wiley-Blackwell published his biography of Robert Frost in 2017. He has also published scholarly books on Geoffrey Hill, Robert Lowell, and Seamus Heaney. He is currently looking for a publisher for his book manuscript about Seamus Heaney's interest in the artist's gift and the practice of gift exchange. He served as Virginia's poet laureate from 2018-2020. He teaches English at William and Mary.
