Today's poem is by Lauren Shapiro
White is the New White
Bleak the new bleak
Sun the only sun you'll ever see
Repetition the brother of invention
Invention a small hole in a star
so far away no one believes it's there
That's okay, your invention is private
It's not groundbreaking or patentable
It can't be squeezed into juice
or sold on the corner
Your invention must be viewed with special sunglasses
that can be found in a field
an hour outside of town
You should know there is also a mass grave in this field
You have to step around the many scattered bones
but it's okay
even a kid could do it
