Today's poem is by Djelloul Marbrook
This abandoner of dogs
Hard to brush off heaven,
to need a watch & compass
& language to remember
a place locked out from,
but this abandoner of dogs
& children visits them
when the moon burns a hole
through this thatch of twigs,
this shelter from the past
& this abandoner of dogs,
this liar is sucked out from
sleep & other excuses
to risk life in the mouth
of the scented encompasser,
life not as a passerby
but food for what happens
to the habitable moment
that is not spurned to linger
for another wretched day.
