Today's poem is
"Ghost-bird, I"
from Presence: A Journal of Catholic Poetry
Eva Mary Hooker
's first book, Godwit (3 Taos Press 2916), she traced the migration patterns of a bird, collected wildflowers for semblances and rooted around in the testimony of women mystics. She likes to wander in places strange to her. She likes to explore without linguistic obligation. Her second manuscript, Portion, leans up out of the shade and explores the compass of the world in Margaret Cavendish's 17th century voice. My poems have been published in journals such as Agni, Notre Dame Review, Salmagundi, Orion, Salamander and Presences. She is Professor of English and Writer in Residence at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana.
