Today's poem is by Ruth Fainlight
Magic
Like a sudden veering in direction when
two surfaces shear past each other
disturb the deep strata expose a startling
yet inherent patternunexpected actions and demands
induce reveal new aspects of being
though today's calmness seems no truer
than last week's tearful panicand though the features of her uncertain face
keep altering in the struggle to define
one sure purpose and identity
and make it happenno attempt as yet was potent enough
to work such magic.
