Bret Shepard
grew up ih villages on the North
Slope of Alaska. He is the recipient of awards and
fellowships from Saint Mary's College, where
he completed his MFA, and the University of
Nebraska, where he completed his PhD. He now
lives in Tacoma, Washington with his wife and
two sons. He has taught at the University of
Idaho, the University of Puget Sound, and Breen
River College, where he currently teaches writing.
He is an editor at Dikembe Press, publisher of
poetry chapbooks. Recent poems have appeared
or are forthcoming in Arts & Letters, Boston
Review, Colorado Review, Crazyhorse, and
elsewhere. When not teaching and writing, he
spends as much time as possible outdoors in the
Pacific Northwest.
