Today's poem is by Amy Key
Gratuitously early the cold
The shoreline was a fallen-down hem
I am interested in scenes where the sky & sea resemble one another
Tell me where the sea ends & the sky begins Ha! You cannot
Cows walked in single file towards me
I know it is common to be afraid in that situation; there is merit in caution
I have an announcement to make
I outed myself as the cliché who requires the horizon to know herself
I would like to walk in woodland the colours of internal organs
There was an accordion quality to the things that happened
Everything was linked and wheezy from breathing the same air
I have a second announcement
Sheep grazed on the connective tissue-esque kelp
Do not allow description of her bones, her skin, small of back, wrists, laugh etc.
I practised outrunning the peel of the wave but the waves were uncooperative
This is what did for sex
I put down my hood & let down my hair & the wind responded
I was watched by both the sheep & the cows as I took off my clothes
Screaming I walked into the sea
I poured out the fresh water in my bottle & refilled it with salt
I had visited this place for a reason
My third and final announcement
All this I did when I was young
Since then it has been my role to keep the water intact
Until you came for it
