About A Goat From a Distance:

"Hard to parse just how Jennifer Moss's poems crack you open like they do. Like cubist fables or the really unsafe fairy tales that we don't read as often as we should, they're beautiful, strange, funny, disturbing, and precise in equal parts. They explore the electric space between the human and the beast; they concatenate the child#151;world with that of the adult. I don't recommend reading these before bed. Actually, I'm not sure it's all that safe to read these poems at all."
—Ander Monson

"These poems are glittering and precise. The voice stands as a central pivot, slowly turning and surveying the surround of its motivation. There is a feeling that one has stumbled out, newly made. Sometimes the voice slips away to occupy a nearby object or landscape or idea, and returns changed. I love how these poems swerve into their truth with such fierce attention that they can't help but carry the reader with them."
—Laura McKee

"The deep, unquenchable, and delicious longing at the heart of A Goat From A Distance seems just right. Jennifer Moss has claimed want and earned it. The language in the poems is often beguiling in its simplicity, but pull back the curtain, dip your tongue beneath any surface in the book and you'll likely find its antipode. In the poetry of Jennifer Moss, the internal is pitted against, refracted through, reflected in the external. We get a Gordian Knot, we get a Sword of Damocles, we get a fine read."
