Jane Hirshfield has written eight books of poetry, among them Given Sugar, Given Salt; After; and most recently, The Beauty (2017). Her books of essays are Nine Gates: Entering the Mind of Poetry and Ten Windows: How Great Poems Transform the World. She has edited several collections of poetry and is a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
