Today's poem is by Leah Poole Osowski
Vs. Field
I could stare down a field
but it has distraction
Collapsed deer swoop of hawk
lightest stumble of monarchs
my eyes adulterous to this lake
of grassThe wheezing cornfield
The fox a flare
next to the broken-down car of meGive the wind a leaf and dare
it to keep stillDim the lights
and beg the cicadas silent
Movement
and noise take
no instructionThistles still draw the foot
still defeat the callusCry thorn
and watch the skin creekCry splinter and invite
the outdoors in
