Today's poem is by George David Clark
Silent Anniversary
my wife's dream-breathing in the dark
unrolls its invisible party hornso quietly we must be celebrating
one of the secret anniversariesof silence in this noisy house
no singing of course no presentsno cake for fear the clatter of utensils
would insult the guest of honorwho lies eyes open between us
as hushed as a stillborn childin this blizzard of black confetti
