Today's poem is by Nancy Chen Long

The Common Wealth, Cash and Carry

Everyone                 sells out. Someone somewhere
        is shilling. Ammunition
sells like water

falls—careens like a creek flows.
Never straight.                 See? bullets
ricochet                 homebound.

In the streets, a wealth of wellarmed
children fills our shoes.

Marksmen. Listen!
our moonlight serenade—
the howl of coyotes.

Auctioned, we are fat now,
content, with our pistols cocked.
