from Dark Tussock Moth
Mary Cisper
lives with her husband on northern New Mexico alluvium. She has BA degrees in English (Northwestern) and Chemistry (University of New Mexico). Once she was on intimate terms with ion trap mass spectrometers in search of ultra-low detection limits; for a time she was a quality whisperer. Her first published poem appeared in a church bulletin when she was nine. Since then, her poems have been published in various journals including Denver Quarterly, Lana Turner, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Terrain, Water-Stone Review, Newfound, FIELD, 1110, Fourteen Hills, and ZYZZYVA(forthcoming). Her admiration for the artist and naturalist, Maria Sibylla Merian, was sparked by Google’s April 2, 2013 doodle celebrating Maria’s 366th birthday. She recently completed her MFA in Poetry at Saint Mary's College of California. For many summers, she has hiked and backpacked in the Sierras.
