Today's poem is by Athena Kildegaard
Swans
Two white bodies float
heads and necks tucked away
as though anchored, like buoys
marking a safe passage.
In this cold damp no boats
cut along the fjord; no wind
blows, even gulls roost.
I'm out alone, restless,
not even sure of my foothold
on this rocky beach. There's
someone else, a thin presence
on the narrow point, too far
away, someone leaning,
as I am, toward the current.
