Today's poem is by Michael Chitwood
Pier
Short road.
Lifted.
A scaffoldthe sea
slides under.
Its braces'Xs
mark the spot
of no treasureother than
the shush-hush
of surf.It has an end.
You can go there
and knowwhen you have
arrived
and seehow much
farther
there is to go.
