Today's poem is by Jean Gallagher
Persephone (5)
I thought I was single and then landed
in everything-included even the
could-have-but-didn't even the did-and-
then-was-sorry. At first I didn't
want them the little bright
leadweights I was made
to eat. But long
marriage tree in the black
basement of things you are
not what I thought. Far
greener. Reaching down
much farther in the dark.
