William Virgil Davis's most recent book is Landscape and Journey (2009), winner of the New Criterion Poetry Prize and the Helen C. Smith Memorial Award for Poetry. He has published three other books of poetry: One Way to Reconstruct the Scene, which won the Yale Series of Younger Poets Prize; The Dark Hours, which won the Calliope Press Chapbook Prize; Winter Light. His poems appear regularly in leading journals. He has published in Poetry, The Nation, The Hudson Review, The Georgia Review, The Gettysburg Review, The New Criterion, The Sewanee Review, The Atlantic Monthly, TriQuarterly, Harvard Review, PN Review, Southwest Review, and in many other journals. He has also published half a dozen books of literary criticism, most recently R. S. Thomas: Poetry and Theology, as well as scores of critical essays. He is Professor of English and Writer-in-Residence at Baylor University.
