Today's poem is by Christina Olson
Lost
Admit it: more interesting
is the uncoupling of things:June slugs shedding faintly yellow
slime; the spare thumbfrom a premature hand.
Parents. Commemoratethings lost, the duos split.
Honor these separatesheavydrops of slug, sixth digits,
Sonny Bonoif onlybecause somebody should,
before everything singleis lost in the din of coupled
things. But let them whirlonly briefly, like the storms
that die before they even get
to be named for women.
