Maxine Chernoff
is the author of six books of fiction and eight books of poetry, most recently The Turning (2008) and Among the Names (2005), both from Apogee Press. She recently translated The Selected Poems of Friedrich Holderlin (Omnidawn, 2009), with her husband Paul Hoover, with whom she co-edits New American Writing. Chernoff is a professor and Chair of the Creative Writing program at San Francisco State University.
